Each guest discussed his or her role in the operation of their local government. They gave the background on their city, told how they became City Manager /Mayor, forms of government, and they discussed the relationship between the Manager and the City Council, the Manager and staff and the role the Mayor has under this form of government. Mayor Donelson advised that there are pluses and minuses in each form and that there are a number of important things for Council to look at in determining what is the best form for Tukwila. You need to look very seriously at the goals you have for the citizens and the City and decide which form is best equipped to deal with them. Mayor Bland said that the system depends on how good the City Manager is. There are many well trained people in the field. Council is part time; they are the leaders of the community, but they have a professional managing the business. Council asked many questions of their guests.
