There are a number of items not covered by this Warranty that are the responsibility of the Purchaser. In order to ensure that your CentiMark roof system will continue to perform, you must examine and maintain these items on a regular basis: 1. Maintain a file for your records on this roof. Include this Warranty, invoices, and subsequent logs of all inspections performed and repairs made to the roof. 2. Inspect your roof at least semiannually. This is best done in the spring and in the fall, It is also a good idea to examine the roof for damage after severe weather conditions such as hailstorms, heavy rains, high winds, etc. When checking the roof: 1. Remove any debris, such as leaves, small branches, dirt, rocks, etc. that have accumulated. 2. Clean gutters, downspouts, drains and the surrounding areas to avoid clogging. Make certain they allow water to flow off the roof. 3. Examine the areas that abut the roof such as masonry, counterflashing, caulking, mortar joints and any loose stone or coping. 4. All metal curbs and pipes, counterflashing and other similar maintenance items must be kept watertight at all times. Examine all metal flashings and valleys for rust and damage. 5. Examine the edges of the roof and all rooftop equipment such as air conditioners, evaporative coolers, antennas, etc. 6. Check the building exterior for settlement or movement. 7. Examine protective coatings for cracked, flaked or blistered areas, Protecting your investment: 1. If ponding occurs, either implement a system or supplement your existing system with drains or other drainage mechanisms. 2. Do not permit petroleum products, such as oil, gasoline or solvents, or kitchen, manufacturing and other industrial wastes and grease, or any other liquids containing petroleum products or derivatives, on the roof system. These products could adversely affect the roof system. 3. Avoid unnecessary rooftop traffic. Approved walk pads should be installed in areas that require regular foot traffic for maintenance. 4. Before installing rooftop devices in or through the roof, such as air conditioning units, vents, etc., or before erecting an addition to your building, contact your CentiMark representative for coordination of the installation with the CentiMark roof system. 5. Do not use any unapproved materials to repair damage to the roof system. Such products may adversely affect the system. If temporary emergency repairs are necessary immediately, approved materials are EPDM butyl flashing tapes applied with EPDM Primer or urethane -based caulking. CentiMark must be immediately notified if such action is taken. 6. Installation VersiGard Reinforced 45 -mil (1.14 mm), 60 -mil (1.52 mm) and 75 -mil (1.9 mm) thick reinforced EPDM membranes are utilized in Mechanically Attached, Metal Retrofit and Fully Adhered Roofing Systems. Mechanically Attached and Metal Retrofit Roofing Systems: Insulation is mechanically attached to the roof deck and membrane is secured with seam fastening plates or bars and fasteners. To complete seams between two adjoining membrane panels, apply primer to the splice area in conjunction with Versico's QAT. As an alternative, Versico's hand -applied QA Seam Tape may be used. Fully Adhered Roofing System: Insulation Is mechanically attached or adhered to the roof deck. The substrate and membrane are coated with Versico's EPDM Bonding Adhesive. The membrane is then rolled into place and broomed down. To complete seams between two adjoining membrane panels, apply primer to the splice area in conjunction with Versico's QAT. As an alternative, Versico's Primer and hand -applied QA Seam Tape may be used. For cold weather splicing below 40°F (5°C), these steps must be followed: • Heat the primed area of the bottom membrane with a hot-air gun as the top sheet with QAT is applied and pressed into place. • Prior to rolling the splice area with a 2" -wide steel hand roller, apply heat to the top side of the membrane with a hot-air gun. The heated surface should be hot to the touch. Be careful not to burn or blister the membrane. REVIEW CURRENT VERSICO SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS FOR SPECIFIC INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS. Precautions 1. Use proper stacking procedures to ensure sufficient stability of the materials. 2. Exercise caution when walking on a wet membrane. Membranes are slippery when wet. 3. Membranes with QAT should not be exposed to prolonged Jobsite storage temperatures in excess of 90°F (32°C), otherwise the shelf life of the QAT may be affected. 4. When membranes with QAT are used, shade the tape end of the rolls until ready to use in warm, sunny weather. Polyisocyanurate Foam: There is no evidence that dust from this material causes disease in man. There are no known animal studies of the chronic health effects of breathing dust from polyisocyanurate foam. However, a subchronic inhalation study showed no adverse respiratory effects in rats as a result of breathing 9 mg/m3 of dust from a similar foam (polyurethane foam) for 3 months (Thyssen et al., 1978). In, 1987, IARC designated polyurethane as Group 3, not classifiable as to carcinogenicity to humans (Monograph 19). Continuous Filament Glass Fiber: No chronic helath effects are known to be associated with exposure to continuous filament fiber glass. Long-term epidemiologic studies do not show any increases in respiratory cancer or other disease among employees who manufacture this product. In 1987, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified continuous filament fiber glass as a Group 3 substance, "not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans." In 2001, IARC re -affirmed this designation. Because of the large diameter of continuous filament fibers, these fibers are not considered respirable.
