NOTE: The roof mounting curb (frame) not only provides support for the unit, but permits easy penetration of the roof for the connecting ductwork. The roof mounting curb provides for proper flashing and sealing by the roofing contractor as approved by the National Roofing Contractors Association. These instructions do not purport to cover all variations in systems nor to provide for every possible contingency to be met in connection with installation. Should further informa- tion be desired or should particular problems arise which are not covered sufficiently for the purchaser's purposes, the matter should be referred to the manufacturer. Check for transportation damage after kit is uncrated. Report promptly, to the carrier, any damage found to the kit. 1. Adequate support must be provided beneath the roof Roof Mounting Curb (frame) must be installed on a flat, level section of the roof (maximum of 1/4" per foot pitch). Provide a level mounting surface for the unit, even if the roof is not level. If the pitch of the roof exceeds 1/4" per foot, it will be neccessary for the contractor to construct a level subbase on which to install the roof mounting curb. 4. Do not locate the mounting curb near exhaust vents or other sources of contaminated air that could enter the unit air inlets. Guard against water run off from higher overhanging structures. S. Field Fabricated Ductwork -- Secure all ducts to building structure. Use flexible duct connectors between curb and ducts. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and/or the National Electric Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the provisions of these codes shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit has not begun within 180 days from the issuance date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work has begun for a period of 180 days. Your permit will expire on 1/28/2017. Based on the above, you are hereby advised to: 1) Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206-438-9350 to schedule for the next or final inspection. Each inspection creates a new 180 day period, provided the inspection shows progress. -or- 2) Submit a written request for permit extension to the Permit Center at least seven(7) days before it is due to expire. Address your extension request to the Building Official and state your reason(s) for the need to extend your permit. The Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve one extension of up to 180 days. If it is determined that your extension request is granted, you will be notified by mail. In the event you do not call for an inspection and/or receive an extension prior to 1/28/2017, your permit will become null and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees. I think his overarching concern may be that the city doesn't have permits for TI work and that the offices may not meet the energy code, which is item #1. This is beyond my expertise. As for item #4, we should again state the following: The structural calculation provide roof curb details and framing alterations to resist the applied lateral and vertical loads to the existing structure. No changes are required. (Please edit this portion as this beyond my expertise: The flashing and sealing of the mechanical curb will be done by a licensed and bonded roofing contractor. Details for this work is typically (Scott not sure if this statement is true or if required...) done in association with the warranty of the roof manufacturer and not typically required for the review of the building official. The mechanical curb will be flashed per the industry standards.) Please help me out on this last part as this is beyond my expertise.
