At the time of balance the following procedure is followed: 1. Record the room and area served. 2. Record the size and type of terminal. 3. Record the effective area factor (K/F). This factor is obtained from manufacture literature or is calculated. If a flow hood is used to read the terminal then the K/F is set to 1.0. 4. Record the design CFM. S. Calculate the design FPM; CFM divided by K/F. 6. Record initial terminal FPM and CFM readings. 7. Adjust each terminal to within 10% of design using volume dampers. If volume dampers are not provided then adjustments may have to be made at the terminal device. S. For supply terminals only, adjust flow pattern to that shown on plans and schedules. 9. Record final FPM and CFM readings. 10. Prepare log sheets of readings for final report to illustrate the conditions of flow for each terminal before and after balancing.
