M I N U T E S
Gary Van Dusen, Mayor, led the Pledge of Allegiance and
called the Regular Meeting of the Tukwila City Council
to order.
Mayor Van Dusen introduced Reverend Nick Krantz, of
the Foster Tukwila Presbyterian Church, who led the
audience in an invocation.

DANIEL D. W00, Deputy City Attorney; MAXINE ANDERSON,
City Clerk; PATRICK LOWERY, Police Chief; DON WILLIAMS,
Recreation Director.
Mayor Van Dusen introduced Doug Gibbs and presented him
with a ten year employee service pin. Prior to coming
to Tukwila as a Firefighter he served with King County
Fire District #40 and the City of Renton. In 1975 he
received the highest honor awarded in the Fire
Department -the Distinguished Service Award. Doug has
been a Firefighter since 1968.
Mrs. Rudolf Regel thanked the Mayor and Council for the
beautiful plaque installed in Hazelnut Park in honor of
she and her husband.
SWEARING IN OF CITY OFFICIALS
Frank Payne, Municipal Court Judge, was present to admi-
nister the oath of office to the following City Officials:
Charles Simpson, newly elected Council Member
Wendy Morgan, elected to 4 -year Council Position
Doris Phelps, re- elected Council Member
Gary Van Dusen, elected to 4 -year term as Mayor
Charles Simpson was seated at the Council Table.

MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THE CONSENT
AGENDA BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED.*
Councilman Bauch asked to have the Voucher approval
removed from the agenda. They will be considered under
Item 9.
Council Member Phelps asked to have it noted in the last
minutes that she arrived at the meeting prior to the
discussion on Resolution No. 894.
*MOTION CARRIED WITH VOUCHERS REMOVED.

The Public Hearing was duly advertised for the Park and
Open Space Plan. This is in preparation of the eventual
adoption of the Plan by ordinance.
Mayor Van Dusen declared the Public Hearing open and
asked for comments from the audience. There being no
input offered, the Public Hearing was closed.
Councilman Bauch explained that a voucher in the amount
of $319.00 was for the purchase of a capital equipment
item (metal detector) but was being paid for from
supplies. There was no metal detector requested in the
budget. He asked to have this voucher removed and placed
on the next Committee of the Whole Agenda for discussion
on Council policy on capital equipment.
MOVED BY BAUCH, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THIS VOUCHER BE
REMOVED AND PUT ON THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AGENDA FOR
DISCUSSION. MOTION CARRIED.
MOVED BY BAUCH, SECONDED BY HARRIS, THAT THE REMAINDER OF
THE VOUCHERS BE APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THE PARK AND
OPEN SPACE PLAN BE PUT FORWARD TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR
DISCUSSION ALONG WITH THE ADOPTING ORDINANCE. MOTION
CARRIED.
The benediction was given by Reverend George Cox of the
Tukwila Baptist Church.
MOVED BY HARRIS, SECONDED BY DUFFIE, THAT THE REGULAR
MEETING OF THE TUKWILA CITY COUNCIL ADJOURN. MOTION
CARRIED.
