Call to Order, Roll Call & Introduction of Guests: Chair Sheila Coppola called the meeting to order at 6pm. Attendance: Commission Members Present: Cynthia Chesak, Pinky Estell, Sheila Coppola, Trisha Gilmore, Jaleh Sadravi, Helen Enguerra, Shawn Belyea and Dylan Mahler Commission Members Absent: n/a Staff: Tracy Gallaway Council Member(s): Guests: 2. Approval of Agenda: Helen Enguerra moved to accept the agenda. Cynthia Chesak seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 3. Approval of Minutes: Trisha Gilmore moved to accept the minutes for 2.26.20 meeting. Jaleh Sadravi seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 4. Unfinished Business: a. Baker Blvd Art Project update - 5. New Business: a. Summer Arts Engagement Ideas i. Mobile Recreation ii. Park "pop up" art iii. 4C Touring Arts Roster — Presenter Incentive Program b. PSP —Facility Openings (Station 51— August; Justice Center —September) 6. Commission/Staff Report Outs: o Tracy Gallaway, Staff Liaison: o Sheila Coppola: Pastor Jan Bolerjack is interested in learning about funding opportunities through the Arts Commission. It was suggested to invite her to a future meeting to share information about music programs she offers to the community. o Pinky Estell — Non-profit student art spaces is a new non-profit that is organized and run by teens. Pinky suggested extending an invite to the group to attend a future meeting so commissioners can learn about what they are doing. Mr. Estell has finished meeting with the Tukwila School District regarding the Performing Arts Center, he will provide a report at the next meeting. o Cynthia Chesak/Dylan Mahler — Ms. Chesak and Mr. Mahler provided information about the Foster High School construction project and support from the Washington State Arts Commission to install artwork. They are working with a group of school district representatives and will report back as projects move forward. FHS construction project, receiving $ from the Washington State Arts Commission for art on site. Dylan reported out on the Washington State Arts.... New construction at the FHS qualifies for funding from the state arts commission. Cynthia and Dylan had a meeting w/ several school administrator and the state. Together, they will brainstorm ideas and then consult the WA State arts list for the group to select an artist that will be a good match for the project. Considerable amount of $$ - The other thing that came out of the meeting —there were two paintings completed by Bill Cumming — Cynthia was of the understanding that he donated the paintings. Technically, the WA States Arts Commission owns the pieces. Trisha Gilmore: The Rotating Art Wall committee would like to put out a call for artists the rotating art program. The committee suggests offering a stipend for artists as there are expenses incurred to display their art. A $250 stipend was suggested. The committee also suggesting offering the opportunity for selected artists to offer a workshop to community members and providing a $150 stipend if they choose to offer the workshop. Helen Enguerra motioned to provide $1000 in stipends to artists annually who display on the rotating art wall. Pinky Estell seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 7. Adjournment: Trisha Gilmore motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 pm Cynthia Chesak seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Next meeting: March 25, 2020 at Tukwila Community Center
