The first is restriping the Boulevard from a five lane road into a three lane street. This includes the addition of new crosswalks and a protected bike lane (See page 32 for details). The second step is a Change to the zoning ordinance to assure develop- ment will implement the vision- This change includes permitting greater diversity and capacity of uses while allowing incremental development in the short term (See page 42 for de• tails). Moratorium on Auto -Related & Lodging Uses • Prohibit new uses & intensification or expansion of existing uses that don't support walkability • Prevent investment in uses not likely to be allowed in future • Allow staff time to draft new standards & TIB design; community conversations • Amending zoning code now would replace moratorium Changes Recommended by Planning Commission Land Use Category Proposed Changes (strikeouts/underlining} NCC RC Footnote Retail sales, e.g. health/beauty aids/prescription drugs/ food/hardware/notions/crafts/supplies/house wares/electronics/ P36 P36 36.
