• Rachel Bianchi, Deputy City Administrator briefed the Commissioners on the next
Permanent Police Chief search.
• The Commissioner approved and finalized the new ESJC Mission Statement:
The commission advises policymakers; advocating and promoting for initiatives
that dismantle systemic racial, gender, and economic inequities, to create and
strengthen a sense of belonging for all community members.
• Commissioners discussed the planning phases for the leadership training with the
goal to bring on a guest facilitator to work with the commission no later than May
or June of 2021.
• The Commission reviewed the ESJ youth recruitment flier and provided two
additional recommendation. Once added, City staff can begin to the outreach
process in the middle of March 2021.
• The Commissioners brainstormed ideas on the upcoming Juneteenth event. Ad-
hoc committee has been created to begin the planning and implementation
process.

March 24, 2021: New Business — Youth Art Proposal for Virtual Classes in partnership with
Arts Corp; City of Tukwila Waste Management Art Contest -Review Committee 4.15.21 (8-
10am), asking for representative from TAC to review entries and select winners. Agenda for
the next future meeting — Jolene Haas, Duwamish Tribe & Director of the Duwamish
Longhouse & Culture Center. Next meeting April 28, 2021.

for six months; School resource officer conversation with the Tukwila School District and
possible options being explored; Discussion how long the community survey should be made
available.
