a. Discussion- Status of SHAG construction all around the same branch, and how it is/will affect
parking access for library users
b. Discussion- How the Tukwila's school system plans for re -opening may impact library functions,
especially at the Tukwila Library location

MINUTES
February 2, 2021 5:30pm Location: VIRTUAL, held via Microsoft Teams
CaII to Order: The meeting was called to order at 5:41.
1. Roll Call:
a. Board Members: Present: Verna Seal, Scott Kruize, Cynthia Chesak, Steve Miller, Marie Parrish
Absent: Gerie Ventura, Linda McLeod
b. Staff: KCLS Staff: Philis Bodle City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn
2. Approval of Agenda and Minutes
a. Scott Kruize Motioned to accept the agenda and minutes from January 5, 2021 meeting as
written. Marie Parrish second the motion, all were in favor.
3. Public Comment — There were no public comments.
4. Unfinished Business
a. 2021 Goals — Board members feel these are approachable given pandemic. Guest speakers will
give background for when we move out of Pandemic times and give more insight on where to
move forward as a board. Marie Parrish motioned to adopt the 2021 goals as written on the
Budget & Work Plan Document. Scott Kruize second the motion, all were in favor.
b. 2021 Budget- Discussion notes: Board suggested having a small sign or label the magazines with
"Provided by Tukwila Library Advisory Board", City of Tukwila Staff will provide a web link to kits
for board members to review options and make suggestions for kits to purchase. Scott Kruize
Motioned to adopt the 2021 budget as written on the Budget & Work Plan Document. Cynthia
Chesak second the motion, all were in favor.
c. 2021 Meeting Schedule — Board discussed having the option to add meetings if needed between
the proposed schedule. Scott Kruize Motioned to accept proposed schedule as Listed. Marie
Parrish second the motion, all were in favor.
i. Guest speaker list and potential timeframe

• July 6, 2021— Sheri McConnaughey, Tukwila Parks & Recreation Senior

5. Reports
a. KCLS: Philis Bodel: still in status quo. Tukwila will be an early building to reopen for limited
service. No date yet, but close. Will email once known. Once open curbside option will go
away. KCLS Foundation Literary Lions Gala event is online this year March 6, 2021. Tax books
will be available next week for curbside pickup for those that need them.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn reported out that he and Senior coordinator Sheri McConnaughey
met with KCLS staff to follow up on the senior bookclub from discussion last meeting. This was a
very productive and positive meeting. Sheri is developing a survey to give to seniors to develop
the program in a way that they want it to be. There is a public virtual meeting for the Tukwila

Pond Master Plan on Wednesday February 3, 2021. All are invited and should sign up. John
provided a sample list of the different offerings going on with Tukwila Parks & Recreation.
6. Other (10 minutes)
a. Verna Seal asked to add the creation of an Annual report to council for the fall meeting.
b. Verna Seal asked who is KCLS friends of Tukwila Library group contact? Philis Bodel answered it
is Jose Garcia.
7. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on April 6, 2021.
