1. Letter of Interest
City of Tukwila
Attn: Paige McGehee
On behalf of Gates Venture Group and Equitable Development LLC, we are pleased to submit our
proposal to provide strategic counsel to support community outreach efforts in developing a Teen and Senior
Intergenerational Center. The opportunity to contribute our experience to this important project is an exciting
opportunity and a great match for the skills, abilities, and knowledge we bring to community-based
development. Furthermore, we have significant experience working together and also provide unique
contributions to our collaborative efforts.
Our previous experience includes providing primary leadership of multiple equity -centered community-
based co -designed projects. We have practiced a breadth of community outreach approaches for city and
county -wide initiatives. These projects required us to reach diverse and marginalized populations, and to
honor cultural norms and traditions. The scope of community outreach ranged between 40 to 60 community-
based organizations, multiple tools and strategies, diverse languages and customs, averaging 750 to 1000
participants. We are experienced in collaborating with project staff, collecting and documenting feedback,
strategic (virtual) facilitation, project coordination, and bring a history of culturally responsive knowledge to
this project. Cumulatively we bring over 30 years of experience to this field of work.
The approach we collectively bring values stakeholder engagement and relationship building. It is from
this platform that we innovate and design a framework for the community's consistent investment. We
strategically facilitate the building of bridges capable of mutual partnerships that support the ongoing success
of the project. Such partnerships cause us to cast a wide but targeted net, identify community needs and
concerns, and design discussions that strengthen ties to the community. Our targeted co -design approach is
an equity -inclusive framework.
The City of Tukwila is critically located and essential to the viability of the region. Its diversity has been
widely recognized. Ensuring Tukwila lives into its diverse vibrancy of people and spaces truly is an
intergenerational opportunity. Coupled together with the challenge faced by the global pandemic, business
recovery efforts, racial unrest, immigration and refugee displacement, and growing activism, a targeted co -
design is recommended for the success of this project.
Thank you for considering our team. It would be our pleasure to support the City of Tukwila in this project.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about our proposal.
