If you're looking for a new place to view fireworks, please check out this website. In alignment with the City's priority-based budgeting, the Parks & Recreation Department determined that neighborhood parks and the residents that visit them are their priority for this community. Therefore, they've decided to end Family Fourth at the Fort (an event largely attended by Tukwila Elected Officials non-residents) and instead provide twice as many See You in the Park events for your summertime entertainment. Learn Mayor: Allan Ekberg more about this summer's See You in the Park events on the Community Events page of the City website . The award seeks to recognize smart planning throughout Washington State. Tukwila Village was chosen for this award because it achieves our community's vision for the area while pursuing an innovative and successful partnership that can be a model for other cities. Twenty years ago, the community had a vision to transform Tukwila International Boulevard district into a vibrant urban place. After two decades of planning, effort, and partnership, Tukwila Village is now a multicultural and multigenerational community and neighborhood at the corner of S 144th and Tukwila International Boulevard. The development includes critical new affordable senior housing, a new library, "complete street" improvements to S 144th St, a new public plaza, and the Sullivan Community Center, which houses a community meeting room, job-training non-profit Kona Kai Coffee, and a community kitchen. Buildings soon to be completed include over 200 additional housing units, commercial space, and a food hall, where space will be rented to local food service entrepreneurs. The design of Tukwila Village, and the newly created Tukwila Village Community Development Association, whose mission is to improve the welfare of the local community, fosters that continued partnership and entails ongoing cooperation.
