City of Tukwila E-Hazelnut Newsletter March 2020 City Council passes Resolution 1983: Temporary Eviction Moratorium In accordance with Governor Inslee's statewide suspension of residential evictions, the City Council enacted an eviction moratorium in Tukwila that will last during the coronavirus civil emergency. The economic impacts of this public health crisis are far-reaching and may result in difficulty paying Quick Links household expenses, including rent. Programming will be available for children of essential workers and first responders from 7am until 4pm daily. This is a free service. They are following all guidelines set out by Public Health under which this service falls. This service is ONLY available for those Essential Workers in the Tukwila Area who have no alternatives for childcare during the COVID-19 health crisis. Occupation workers identified by Washington State as essential activities occupations during the Coronavirus outbreak include: First Responders and Public Safety Personnel (e.g., Police, Firefighters, Emergency Dispatchers, Department of Corrections) Public Health and Safety (e.g., Metro Bus Drivers, Sanitation Services, Utilities, Public Health Employees) Healthcare Workers Grocery Stores, Pharmacies, Convenience Stores, Gas Stations, Pet Stores, Laundromats, and Bank Workers, essential delivery workers (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.) Day Care and Child Care Workers The focus is to support families experiencing challenges due to school closures by ensuring youth have a fun, educational place to go during the day. Workers will be asked to provide a work ID or similar evidence that shows they fall within the essential worker categories. Children will go through a brief health check on drop off each day, failure to pass this will mean a child can not attend. Places are limited. The Boys & Girls Clubs of King County will continue to closely monitor guidelines from Governor Inslee's office, King County Board of Health, Department of Children, Youth, and Families, and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
