With cases still rising, we all need to do our part to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 In the past month COVID-19 has continued to spread rapidly and the daily case counts have skyrocketed throughout the state. The number of hospital beds occupied by patients with COVID-19 has also risen sharply, including ICU beds. If this trend does not reverse, hospitals will need to postpone even more non-urgent surgeries and will have reduced ability to care for patients both with and without COVID-19. To help in reducing the number of infections, Gov. Jay Inslee has announced the launch of WA Notify, a simple, anonymous exposure notification tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19. By adding WA Notify to their smartphones, Washington residents will be alerted if they spent time near another WA Notify user who later tests positive for COVID-19. WA Notify is free and can be enabled in iPhone settings or downloaded as an app from the Google Play Store for Android phones. Users can opt out at any time.
