SPECIAL MEETING
Special
May 24, 2021 — 8:42 P.M.
This meeting was conducted remotely, with the City Council, Mayor, and staff off-site and
participating via a remote electronic system.
All participants, including the Mayor, Councilmembers, City staff, and legal counsel wero not
at Tukwlla City Hall and participatedvia a remote electronic system.
The phone number for public participation that was provided via the agenda distribution

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Ekberg called the remote Special Meeting of the Tukwila City Council to order at 8:42 p.m. directly
following the Committee of the Whole meeting.
ROLL CALL
Andy Yuun, Deputy City Clerk, called the roll of the Council. Present at the virtual meeting were
Councilmembers Verna Seal, Kathy Hougendy, De'Sean Quinn, Kate Kruller, Thomas McLeod, Cynthia
Oe|ostrinooJohnson.
MOVED BY KRULLER, SECONDED BY QUINN TO EXCUSE COUNCILMEMBER IDAN FROM THE
MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

amount of $127.617.65.
(2) Authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment No. 1 to contract #21-036 with Shiels Obletz Johnsen for
project management services for the Intergenerational Youth and Senior Center Prject in the
amount nf$84.3GU.00.

c. Authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with Engineered Products a PAPE Company to facilitate
relocation of the City Records Center in the amount of $80,360.26 (plus sales tax and 10%

Authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with King County for grant funds for veterans, seniors and
human services in the amount of $115,384.00.
8:44 p.m. Councilmember Quinn recused himself from discussion on this item.
MOVED BY KRULLER, SECONDED BY MCLEOD TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN A
CONTRACT WITH KING COUNTY FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR VETERANS, SENIORS AND HUMAN
SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $115,384.00. MOTION CARRIED 5-0, WITH QUINN RECUSED AND
IDAN ABSENT.
8:45 p.m. Councilmember Quinn returned to the virtual meeting.
EXECUTIVE SESSION — Collective Bargaining — Pursuant to RCW 42.30.140(4)(b) (60 minutes)
Mayor Ekberg announced the Council will now go into an Executive Session to discuss:
Collective Bargaining — Pursuant to RCW 42.30.140(4)(b)
The total amount of time will be no more than 60 minutes, and no decisions will be made during the
Executive Session. No action will be required in the Open Meeting after the Executive Session has
concluded.
He declared the meeting adjourned as of the conclusion of the Executive Session. The Executive
Session will not be extended beyond the announced time, and they will not be returning to open session
to adjourn or for any other reason.
8:45 p.m. Mayor Ekberg called for a brief recess to allow the Councilmembers to convene a
separate remote meeting.
