Nancy Eklund, AICP, Long Range Planning Manager, Nancy.Eklund@TukwilaWA.gov, 206/433-7141 Description of Project: On June 17, 2021, the City of Tukwila received an application for a water quality retrofit project within city right-of-way that involves replacing a section of 18 -inch storm water pipe and tying into an existing storm system. The project involves removing/abandoning the existing storm drain pipe; sawcutting road pavement to install storm drain; removing two trees, debris, and ground cover from channel and banks; installing drain system; revegetating disturbed areas with native plantings; and restoring modifications to pavement, curb, and sidewalk. The project area is within both Class 2 steep slopes and the 80 -buffer of a Type 3 stream. SEPA Environmental Review: The City of Tukwila has reviewed the proposed project for probable adverse environmental impacts and expects to issue a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS). This determination is based on review of the SEPA environmental checklist, and other documents submitted with the application for permit approval. ➢ The City has concluded that the requirements and mitigation measures defined in the City's Development regulations are sufficient to address any potential adverse impacts of the project. The proposal may include mitigation measures under applicable codes and the project review process may incorporate or require mitigation measures regardless of whether an EIS is prepared. This anticipated determination is issued using the Optional DNS process in WAC 197-11-355. This may be your only opportunity to comment on the environmental impacts of the proposed project. Public Comment and Review: You are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed project and its probable environmental impacts. Comments must be submitted by August 17, 2021, to Nancy Eklund, nancy.eklund@TukwilaWA.gov or 6200 Southcenter Blvd, Tukwila, WA 98188. Any person has the right to comment on this application, receive notice of and participate in the public meetings or hearings, and request a copy of the land -use decision once made.
