Description of Project: On June 17, 2021, the City of Tukwila received an application for a water
quality retrofit project within city right-of-way that involves replacing a section of 18 -inch storm water
pipe and tying into an existing storm system. The project involves removing/abandoning the existing
storm drain pipe; sawcutting road pavement to install storm drain; removing two trees, debris, and
ground cover from channel and banks; installing drain system; revegetating disturbed areas with native
plantings; and restoring modifications to pavement, curb, and sidewalk. The project area is within both
Class 2 steep slopes and the 80 -buffer of a Type 3 stream.
SEPA Environmental Review:
The City of Tukwila has reviewed the proposed project for probable adverse environmental impacts
and expects to issue a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS). This determination is based on review
of the SEPA environmental checklist, and other documents submitted with the application for permit
approval.
➢ The City has concluded that the requirements and mitigation measures defined in the City's
Development regulations are sufficient to address any potential adverse impacts of the project.
The proposal may include mitigation measures under applicable codes and the project review process
may incorporate or require mitigation measures regardless of whether an EIS is prepared. This
anticipated determination is issued using the Optional DNS process in WAC 197-11-355. This may be
your only opportunity to comment on the environmental impacts of the proposed project.

impacts. Comments must be submitted by August 17, 2021, to Nancy Eklund,
