Attn: John Saito, Service Consultant 5108 D Street NW Auburn, WA 98001 Re: Acura of Seattle RTU Replacement 301 Baker Blvd, Tukwila, WA 98188 DEI Job #: 17-244 Dear Mr. Saito: FiLZ REVIEWED FOR CODE COMPLIANCE APPROVED AUG 15 2017 City of Tukwila BUILDING DIVISION RECEIVED CITY OF TUKWILA JUL 10 2011 PERMIT CENTER On May 3, 2017, Dibble Engineers, Inc. (DEI) visited Acura of Seattle in Tukwila in order to review the existing roof framing in support of a proposed rooftop unit replacement. Based on information provided by Emerald Aire, the existing unit is 680#, and it is being replaced with a new 1055# unit, and 200# curb adapter, resulting in a load increase of 575#. The existing building is a 1 -story wood framed structure with masonry walls. King County records indicate that it was constructed in 1968. The existing roof framing in the vicinity of the unit replacement is composed of glulam beams spaced at approximately 14 feet on center, with 2x12 joists spanning between beams. The glulams are supported by exterior bearing walls and interior steel columns spaced at approximately 25 feet on center. Figure 1— Roof Joists and Beam Near RTU Location Figure 2 — RTU Proposed for Replacement Based on our on-site observations, and information provided by Emerald Aire, the rooftop unit proposed for replacement is located directly above an existing glulam beam • . ._oximately 6 feet from one end. Based on our calculations, it is DEI's conclusion that the existing • -, ci support the additional loads from the new unit and adapter, provided the beam dimv'sions are 5-1/8" x 19-1/2" or • eater. The beam appeared to exceed these dimensions, but was out of reach at the of the site visit so dir easurements could not be taken. The contractor should confirm the beam dimensions prior to pming the RTU replacement, and contact DEI for additional review if they are under the dimensions specified. 0 041 1 DIBBLE ENGINEERS INC 1 1029 Market Street, Kirkland WA 980331425.828.42001 dibbleengineers.com DEI DIBBLE;GINEERS INC " Dibble Engineers review is limited to the areas accessible and readily visible. Job ESP + Economizer PD = Total ESP .40 + .05 = .45 ESP Enter Fan Performance table at 2,000 cfm for 48HD006. Read that at low speed (230 v) the ESP of the fan is .50 in wg and .75 bhp. This will adequately handle job requirements. V Determine net cooling capacity. Cooling capacities are gross capacities and do not account for indoor fan motor (IFM) heat. Determine net capacity using the following formula: Net capacity = Gross capacity - IFM heat = 61,000 - .75 bhp (2,545 Btuh/bhp) x 1/motor efficiency = 61,000 - .75 (2,545) (1/.62) = 61,000 - 3,078 Net capacity = 57,922 Btuh Net sensible capacity = 43,000 - 3,078 = 39,922 Btuh Predator (3-12.5 Ton Package) N524 NEW UNIT WEIGHT York Single Package R -410A Air Conditioner Page: 3 Project Name: BAKER BLDG Unit Model #: ZFO78N12R4B1AAA1A1 Quantity: 1 System: ZFO78N12R4B1AAA1A1 Cooling rerrormance Total gross capacity 81.5 MBH Sensible gross capacity 59.5 MBH Total net capacity 76.1 MBH Sensible net capacity 54.1 MBH Efficiency (at ARI) 11.20 EER Integrated eff. ' DEI \, DIBBLE ENGINEERS INC April 25, 2017 Emerald Aire, Inc. Attn: John Saito, Service Consultant 5108 D Street NW Auburn, WA 98001 Re: Acura of Seattle RTU Replacement 301 Baker Blvd, Tukwila, WA 98188 DEI Job #: 17-244 Dear Mr. Saito: On May 3, 2017, Dibble Engineers, Inc. Figure 1— Roof Joists and Beam Near RTU Location Figure 2— RTU Proposed for Replacement Based on our on-site observations, and information provided by Emerald Aire, the rooftop unit proposed for replacement is located directly above an existing glulam beam, approximately 6 feet from one end. Based on our calculations, it is DEI's conclusion that the existing glulam has the capacity to support the additional loads from the new unit and adapter, provided the beam dimensions are 5-1/8" x 19-1/2" or greater. The beam appeared to exceed these dimensions, but was out of reach at the time of the site visit, so direct measurements could not be taken. The contractor should confirm the beam dimensions prior to performing the RTU replacement, and contact DEI for additional review if they are under the dimensions specified. From Heating Capacities table read that unit 48HD006 has output capacity of 98,750 Btuh which is adequate for the given application. IV Determine fan speed and brake horsepower (bhp) requirements at design conditions. Job requirements call for 0 4 in wg ESP. The additional pressure drop of the economizer must be added in. Determine net capacity using the following formula: Net capacity = Gross capacity - IFM heat = 61,000 - .75 bhp (2,545 Btuh/bhp) x 1/motor efficiency = 61,000 - .75 (2,545) (1/.62) = 61,000 - 3,078 Net capacity = 57,922 Btuh Net sensible capacity = 43,000 - 3,078 = 39,922 Btuh F Yo Wdator (3-12.5 Ton Pack? %a) N524 York Single Package R -410A Air Conditioner NEW UNIT WEIGHT Page: 3 Project Name: BAKER BLDG Unit Model #: ZFO78N12R4B1AAA1A1 Quantity: 1 System: ZFO78N12R4B1AAAIA1 Cooung rerrormance Total gross capacity 81.5 MBH Sensible gross capacity 59.5 MBH Total net capacity 76.1 MBH Sensible net capacity 54.1 MBH Efficiency (at ARI) 11.20 EER Integrated eff.
