Overview
• City diverted HB 1406 funds in March of 2020 for rental
assistance due to pandemic
• City Council allocated $250,000 in 2021 for additional
pandemic -related rent and utility assistance
• City staff have leveraged relationships with other providers,
agencies and landlords to serve impacted residents

City Council's $250,000 2021 COVID allocation
• Part time staff hired to distribute COVID funds
• Rental and utility assistance for residents impacted by COVID
• One-time increases to the Tukwila Pantry, MultiService Center, REWA,
Housing Justice Project, Way Back Inn, Partners in Employment, Mary's
Place and HealthPoint
• Any under -spend will be rolled to 2022 as a part of the 2022 budget
amendment process
$500,000 in ARPA funds allocated for 2022 COVID response

• Landlords have been a critical partner in this work
• King County Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance Program
has been very active in Tukwila

Reminder — key statewide eviction -prevention regulations remain
in place
• Landlords must offer reasonable payment plans for six months
• Late payment fees prohibited
• Landlords must participate in Eviction Resolution Pilot Program
before filing eviction
• No -cost legal representation available to tenants facing eviction
making up to 200% of poverty
