A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, EXPRESSING SINCERE GRATITUDE
TO ZAK IDAN FOR HIS SERVICE AS A COUNCILMEMBER.
WHEREAS, Zak Idan was elected to the Tukwila City Council in 2017, making history as the first
Muslim and first Somali community member elected to office in Washington 8tmte, and serving as a
role model and inspiration to the community; and
WHEREAS. Zak served as a member on the Community Development and Neighborhoods,
Public Safety, Community Services and Safety, Finance, and Planning and Economic Development
Committees, and as Chair of the 2019 Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Chair of
the 2021 Finance and Governance Committee; and
WHEREAS, Zak has been a dedicmted, cornnnitted, and valuable contributor on the Council,
bringing his experience and insight to key issues including bud0eding, economic development, parks
and neonambon, social equih/, and pandemic recovory, all while championing the importance of
transparency and efficiency in Iocal government;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
On behalf of the entire Tukwila community, the Mayor and Councilmembers express their
sincere thanks to Zak Idan for his four years of dedicated service as a City of Tukwila
Councilmember.
