ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
REPEALING THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 973
AND ESTABLISHING THE SEPARATE DEPARTMENTS OF
PLANNING AND RECREATION IN THE CITY OF TUKWILA.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Office of Community Development Eliminated. The
Office of Community Development and position of Community Development and
Planning Director is hereby eliminated as a separate operating department
within the administrative organizational structure.
Section 2, Office Created: (Planning Department). The
Planning Department is hereby created and shall be under the supervision
of the Planning Director who shall report directly to the Mayor. The
Planning Department shall be responsible for:
A. Administrative enforcement and public information involving
land use and related matters.
B. Development and recommendations for ensuring compliance
with State, Federal laws relating to the environment, shore-
line management and EIS requirements.
C. Serve in an advisory capacity to Boards and Commissions of
the City.
D. The Building Division is hereby transferred to the Planning
Department and shall be under the supervision of the Plann-
ing Director. The Building Official shall be responsible for:
1. Field enforcement and public information involving build-
ing and related codes.
2. Services to various Boards and Commissions in an advisory
capacity.
Section 3. Office Created: (Parks Recreation Department).
The Parks and Recreation Department is hereby created and shall be under
the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director who shall report directly
to the Mayor The Recreation Department shall be responsible for:
A. Development and implementation of a comprehensive Parks and
Recreation program to meet community needs.
B. Drafting of long range Parks acquisitions and development
programs.
C. Serve as an advisory to the Park Commission and various Ad
Hoc advisory committees.
Section 4. Positions and compensation in created departments.
The City Council will authorize the necessary positions and appropriate
compensation within the referenced departments through establishment of
annual budgetary ordinances.
Section 5. Ordinance No. 973 is hereby repealed.
