6. Reports (10 minutes)
a. KCLS:
Will continue programming online through end of 2021. Looking at 2022 to start brining
programing back into the buildings. Looking at expanding hours in 2022 through hiring more
staff to assist. Looking at a 6 day opening in Tukwila. New deputy Director Angie Miraflor from
KCLS hired from Brookland. She will oversee the assistant directors and customer service side of
KCLS. KCLS is also doing DEI work including work within the communities around the libraries.
Board comments: parking is still a major issue
b. City of Tukwila:
After serving as the Acting Director during the summer, Tracy Gallaway was appointed Director
of Parks & Recreation by the Mayor and approved by Council in September. Youth Afterschool is
going with 50 kids. Unable to start before school due to lack of staffing. Due to COVID
concerns, the fall carnival event is cancelled. TCC will be requiring vaccination status to enter
the building to conform with the county mandate. Staff are working on plans to monitor this.
Fitness memberships will only need to show once and then will have a check box on their check
in so Staff know they do not need to ask again.
