This new center will offer programs for Tukwila's diverse community. On June 30, 2021, all community members are invited to a City of Tukwila "Town Hall" event, from 6:30 to 8:OOpm. Come share your vision and ideas for the Tukwila Teen Et Senior Center Project. More information and link to the online meeting can be found on the Tukwila Teen Et Senior Center project website. Thomas McLeod Zak Idan Cynthia Delostrinos Johnson The TCC Spray Park opens on July 2, 2021! The Spray Park at the Tukwila Community Center will be opening for the summer on July 2nd! Parks maintenance staff are in process of adding new anti -slip surfacing now that will be ready for opening day. Splashin' fun can be had daily from 10:OOam to 8:OOpm. If you plan to use the spray park, please remember to pack out what you pack in and always place your litter in provided waste bins. But in 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic pushed more people towards outdoor activities, King County saw drowning deaths double compared to 2018. Thirty-three people lost their lives in King County waters last year, nearly 70% of which occurred in open water incidents and drowning continues to be the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children and teens. This has continued into 2021 where King County has already seen 12 more drownings.
