Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:33pm

2. Approval of Agenda and Minutes -
a. Scott Kruize motioned to accept the agenda and minutes from October5, 2021 meeting as
written. Steve Miller second the motion, all were in favor.
3. PublicComment-There were no public comments.
4. Unfinished Business- No unfinished business to report
5. New Business
a. Chair Rotation
i. Verna Seal will be Chair for 2022 with Cynthia Chesak the Vice Chair.
b. Open seats discussion
i. Open seat
1. Outreach ideas: Word of mouth, John Dunn will create a flyer and distribute to
KCLS to post at Library and potentially send to Tukwila Library members, he will
also send KCLS a link to the city application, P&R will send out on social media.
ii. Student Rep
1. Cynthia Chesak will reach out to teachers and librarians at Foster High School.
John Dunn will reach out to the city Teen Specialist to spread the word about
the position through his kids network.
c. 2022 Goals
i. Discussion around getting out into events that are hosted outdoors to promote the
library, hand out book marks and promote the 10 to Try program. Different ideas
presented were the City See You In The Park events, Back Yard Wild Life Festival, and
the farmers market held in the courtyard outside the Library. Consensus was to
continue discussion at the April 5th Meeting with the hopes of having events and dates
from the city.

d. 2022 Budget
i. Adding money to buy2 more libraries.
ii. Consensus to continue discussion in April 5th meeting after knowing rest of goals.
e. 2022 Meeting Schedule
i. Start time discussion
1. It was decided that the board will meet at 6:30PM for the rest of 2022.
ii. Staff proposed quarterly schedule:

6. Other meetings may be added if there is a need that arises between these
dates. John Dunn will send an email to the Board each month to confirm.
6. Reports (10 minutes)
a. KCLS:
Ribbon Cutting for new book locker at the Tukwila Branch to be held Feb. 11th at 10:15AM.
Covington and Bothel are already live. KCLS are also adding book lockers at the branches
located at 320th St. in Federal Way, Kirkland and a Woodinville.
April is the earliest that indoor programming will be provided.
On Feb. 28th, Tukwila library will be expanding hours but not yet to pre -Pandemic level. New
hours will be Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat 10AM-5PM & Tue, Wed 1PM-8PM.
Angie Miraflor is the new Deputy Director and Cecie Streitman is the new Interim Director of
Library Operations.
Vaccination clinics will be held at the Tukwila branch February8th,13th March 1st 22nd
b. City of Tukwila:
City Hall campus and Justice center are closed to the public, but services are still available via
online and virtual offerings. Community Center will continue to offer programs and access to
the public while continuing to maintain safety protocols including vaccination verification,
masking, social distancing and other measures. Some programs may change or cancel
depending on staff or participant availability and safety. City Council meetings will be virtual
only forthe rest of February and will be reassessed at that time for March. All City meetings
have been moved to Virtual.
Recreation Staff are working on planning for summer programming that will be close to pre -
pandemic offerings.
Parks & Recreation has brought on 2 new staff this last week David Rosen, Fiscal Analyst and
Michael May, Communications, Community engagement, Arts &Special Events Manager.
March 7th, TiffanyJohnson will start as the new Recreation & Golf Operations Manager.
The bridge next to the community center is still closed. Repairs were made and inspection was
done. City Staff are waiting on the final report.

Little libraries will be installed soon. John is working with Olena Perry for final locations and Kris
Kelly for installation. Parks & Recreation has a number of books that were donated to stock the
libraries once they are installed. In addition, the Board members mentioned they have lots of
books to help stock the libraries too.
8. Next Meeting: April 5, 2022 (John Dunn will send an email at the end of February to the board to see if
there is a need to meet in March.)
