Allan Ekberg, Mayor Eric Dreyer, Chief of Police Chief's Update: • New youth member to come on board per Mayor's approval (Charlee Sebring) • Homicide at Light Rail — KC jurisdiction. Chief working with other jurisdictions to strategize re: safety • Work with homelessness, cleaned up area on lot next to SHAG on TIB • Conversation with Foster High School students regarding SRO last week. Conversation facilitated by UW • Community has raised concerns about safety. Chief is exploring hosting area specific events to share concerns • Possible TPD community clean up along TIB with BBQ at the end • Shout out to Jan and Roger who assisted with Sergeant interviews last week • Staffing — down 6 (+7 frozen) commissioned officers, 1 retirement, 1 let go, staffed at 57 out of 77 positions • Spider Tech update by Chief Lund o After an incident call, caller receives link to survey, then contact info for reporting officers sent, data aggregated on dashboard. COPCAB vacancies: • Suggest that a blast go out to the community listing all city commission vacancies described and listed. Chief will speak to city leadership Upcoming COPCAB meetings: • Beginning May 2022, meetings will be hybrid (in-person and virtually via Teams) Word on the Street: • Eric Lund — problem area near mall of stolen property and drug activity will get extra focus • Discussion about shoplifting without consequence and possible solutions 15005 Tukwila International 8/vd.
