Approval of minutes: 2/10/22 meeting minutes approved.

Chief's Update:
• Retirements and incoming still leave us five down in personnel
• Addressing challenges with trucks and traffic in Allentown with recent emphasis patrols
• Major Crimes Unit is having to pare down investigations without specific suspects
• Increase in local shootings - not random
o Comment from Katrina affirming the content and rapidity of info out to the community via
Facebook (Vic Masters)
• Hoping to begin using Flock Safety which will have mounted cameras around the city to track vehicles
involved in criminal activity. Ready to set up a trial run.
• All local jurisdictions are short-staffed
• Entry level boards done today.
• Sergeant exams done — 7 passed. 2-3 openings to fill
• Beginning to build 2023-2024 Budget. City Council will give priorities for TPD to budget for.
COPCAB might need to do some advocating for the budget needs to reach full staffing.
• Several upcoming recruitment fairs to be attended
• One shortcoming of TPD— compared to other jurisdictions - is lack of take-home cars for all officers
• Question re: Confluence and Shag calls. Shag has settled down. Confluence calls continue to be high.
• Question re: homeless encampments and legal/property issues
Word on the Street:
• Jay thanks city for putting Tukwila Works back in action
• Katrina raises concerns of grab and go crimes happening right in front of other shoppers. New
reforms may be coming from legislature.
• Katrina asks — what else can COPCAB do. Response - bring concerns from community
• SPIDER survey ready to launch
• Continued emphasis by Chief to have the officers be seen in each and every part of the city every day

Good of the Order:
• Let the record show that Eric Lund did one burpee last meeting and Eric Dreyer did 100 floppies with
his officers this week
• Question regarding whether to keep COPCAB virtual, hybrid, or meet in person.
• Need to fill few positions on COPCAB. Chief will follow up.
