Police and Fire approve of minutes.
Report out of Fire: 10 candidates put in for fire captain. May 2, May 3. Looking for 3 new
hires.
New light duty person- Toby Popejoy on light duty
6 recruits in academy. 63 people in operations. Entry Fire Padila injured in academy.
Humberstone replacement
Captain Johnson in pilot program assigned to investigations. Kent, Tukwila, Seatac.
Fire dept. Puget Sound reginal authority. 30 plus reports backlog, remains
Question concerning fire from Commissioner Morris. Regarding co op agreement.
Looking at 9 different options- for future of the Dept.
Annexation to Puget sound as a possibility.

Finished promotion for Civil Service- Joseph Zaller
Starting as a patrol sergeant.
Very hard decision choosing between rock starts. Would be nice to make another promotion
off the list.
Now chief does a panel member with community. Meet with candidates for a one- on -one.
Opportunity to explain decision. Meet with individuals to explain decision. Explain decision to
work on it. Seattle picked up and lost some. Get stuff out of the way- admin and logistics
Pass rate of training?
Hired 10 in prior 2 years and 2 didn't pass training.
