HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-05-16 Proclamation - National Public Works Week Office of the Mayor City of Tukwila, Washington PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities, emergency management, and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of the people in the Tukwila community; and WHEREAS, these infrastructures, facilities, and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, who are federally mandated first responders, and the engineers, managers, and employees at all levels, who are responsible for rebuilding, improving, and protecting the transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to the community; and WHEREAS, the Public Works services provided in our community are an integral part of the daily lives of our residents; and WHEREAS, the efficient and effective provision of these services greatly enhances the health, safety, and welfare of our community; and WHEREAS, 2022 marks the 62nd annual National Public Works Week, sponsored by the American Public Works Association; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Allan Ekberg, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do hereby proclaim May 15 through May 21, 2022 as: National Public Works Week: Ready & Resilient in the City of Tukwila, and I invite all residents and civic organizations to recognize the daily contributions our Public Works Department staff make to our health, safety and quality of life.
