AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
ESTABLISHING A LEASH LAW AND AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 968 (TMC Chapter 7.04)
WHEREAS, the following amendments to Ordinance No. 968 (TMC
Chapter 7.04) are necessary for the public health, safety and general
welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Ordinance No. 968 (TMC Chapter 7.04) is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 1. Article I, Section 3 (15) (TMC 7.04.020[15]).
"Running at Large" means to be off the premises of the owner
and not under the immediate control of the owner or other
competent person authorized by the owner over fifteen years
of age, e4ther by means of a leash er- verbal- veiee- ape -er
s4gna1- eentre4, cord or chain no longer than eight (8) feet
except when in or on any vehicle and securely confined to
such vehicle.
Section 2. Article I, Section 3 (17) (TMC 7.04.020[17]).
"Under Control" means the animal is under ve}ee- and /er- s4gnal-
control by means of a leash so as to be therby restrained from
approaching any bystander or other animal and from causing or
being the cause of physical property damage when off a- leash
er -eff the premises of the owner.
Section 3. Article III, Section 7 (b) (TMC 7.04.250[2]).
Any dog running at large within the City between- the -beers
ef- 9 =44 -P7M and- 6 =44- A7M7 -ef- the- fellew4ng -eay.
Section 4. Article III, Section 10 (TMC 7.04.290). Any
animal impounded pursuant to the provisions of Section 11.04.210
(TMC 7.04.230) may be redeemed upon payment of the redemption
and kennelling fees set by the King County Council as- prev4dee

shall be made payable to the County Comptroller. The redemption
fee for livestock shall be set by the King County Council $25784
per- an}rial. Livestock not redeemed may be sold at public auction
by the impounding agency. The boarding cost for livestock im-
pounded shall be in accordance with the rate established by contract
between the County and the given stockyard used for holding such
animal.
Section 5. Article III, Section 4 (TMC 7.04.350). In addition
to or as an alternate to any other penalty provided in this chapter
or by law, any person whose animal is maintained in violation of
this chapter shall incur a civil penalty plus billable costs of
the animal control authority. The penalty shall be ten twenty five
dollars for the first notice of violation, twenty -f}ve fifty dollars
for the second notice of violation in any one -year period, and fifty
seventy -five dollars for each successive violation in any one -year period.
