TIB Urban Arterial Program Grant Application
ISSUE
Authorize the submittal of a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Urban Arterial Program
Grant for the S 152nd Street Safe Routs to School (SRTS) project.
BACKGROUND
The S 152nd Street SRTS project will design new curb, gutter, and sidewalks along the stretch of
road between Tukwila International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue S. On-street parking,
landscaping, amenities, and wayfinding may also be included after reaching out to the
neighborhood to solicit preferences. Project design is in process and is estimated to be
complete in 2023. This will bring the project to a shovel ready status.
DISCUSSION
The TIB has issued a call for projects inviting applicants to submit projects for Urban Arterial
Program funding. The Urban Arterial Program funds transportation projects focused on safety,
commercial growth and development, mobility, and physical condition. Grant applications are
due on August 19, 2022.
This grant would fund the construction phase of the S 152nd Street SRTS Project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The City is requesting $4,000,000 from TIB’s Urban Arterial Program. This grant does not
require a match for construction only projects.
