HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd 1152 - 1979 Uniform Building Code (Repealed by Ord 1287)CITY OF TUKWIL WASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO. 1152 REPEALED BY 1287 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE 1979 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, WITH AMENDMENTS, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE #1012 AND ORDINANCE #1092. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The "Uniform Building Code" and Uniform Building Code Appendix, Ch. 11, 32, 49 70, 1979 Edition and the "Uniform Building Code Standards," 1979 Edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, are hereby adopted as the code of the City of Tukwila for regulating the erection, construction, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings and /or structures in the City of Tukwila; providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefore; and providing penalties for violation of such code. Three copies of said code are on file with the City Clerk. follows: Approved as to Section 2. Section 304(a), Permit Fees, shall be amended as The fee for each permit shall be as set forth in Table No. 3 -A, 1976 Edition. Section 3. Chapter 4, Definitions and Abbreviations, of the 1979 Uniform Building Code is hereby amended as follows: A. GRADE (Adjacent Ground Elevation) is the lowest point of elevation of the finished surface of the ground, paving or sidewalk within the area between the building and property line, or when the property line is more than 5 feet from the building, between the building and a line 5 feet from the building. Grades that are altered or revised from the original terrain for the purpose of complying with other provisions of this code will be classified as, and measured from original terrain. B. STORY is that portion of a building included between the upper surface of any floor and the upper surface of the floor next above, except that the topmost story shall be that portion of a building included between the upper surface of the topmost floor and the ceiling or roof above. If the finished floor level directly above a basement or unused underfloor space is more than 6 2 feet above grade as defined herein for more than 59 20 percent of the total perimeter or is more than 12 feet above grade as defined herein at any point, such basement or unused underfloor space shall be considered as a story. Section 4. Ord. No. 1012 and Ord. No. 1092 are hereby repealed. Section 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is, for any reason, held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
