AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON
AMENDING ORDINANCE 914 AND TUKWILA MUNICIPAL CODE
14.04.240 as well as ordinance 1007 AND TUKWILA
MUNICIPAL CODE 14.16.030 ITEM (1) IN ORDER TO
PROVIDE REDUCED WATER AND SEWER RATES FOR SENIOR
CITIZENS.
WHEREAS, there has been a significant rise in the cost of living
during the last few years which has adversely affected senior citizens who
live on fixed incomes below certain levels, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is desirous to assist such eligible
persons subject to certain conditions by reduction in the rates charges for
water and sewer services, and
WHEREAS, such reduction in rates is allowed by RCW 74.38.070.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That the following be added to Ordinance 914
and Tukwila Municipal Code 14.04.240:
Every person 62 years of age or older (if married, then either
spouse) and every person totally and permanently disabled residing
in a separately metered dwelling and who is paying directly for
such separately billed service either as owner, purchaser or renter
and whose income from all sources is less than $7,500 per year,
if a single person, or a combined income of husband and wife of
$10,000 per year, if a married person, shall pay the following
rate for water services to such dwelling:
Two dollars ($2.00) per month limited to 500 cubic
feet of water per month. Any excess shall be charged
at a rate of sixteen cents ($.16) per 100 cubic feet.
Every such person shall file with the Finance Department their
affidavit that he or she is qualified to be charged the special
rate. Such affidavits are to contain information as required
by the Finance Director in order to establish eligibility.
Each affidavit will also include an unqualified promise to in-
form the city of any changes in financial condition that would
disqualify the person for the special rates. The Finance
Director may require affidavits on an annual basis if deemed
necessary.
Section 2. That the following be added to Ordinance 1007 and
Tukwila Municipal Code 14.16.030 item (1):

rate for sewer services to such dwelling.
A flat rate of two dollars and sixty cents ($2.60) per month.
Every such person shall file with the Finance Department their
affidavit that he or she is qualified to be charged the special
rate. Such affidavits are to contain information as required

Each affidavit will also include an unqualified promise to in-
form the city of any changes in financial condition that would
disqualify the person for the special rates. The Finance

REDUCTION IN WATER D SEWER RATES
Ordinance No. I hereby make claim
rates for the following residence address:
In support of my application, I do attest and certify that the following
statements are true.
1. I am 62 years of age or older or (if married) my spouse is 62 years of
age or older.
2. I am years of age and totally and permanently disabled and I attach
herewith a copy of the attending physician's statement verifying such
permanent disability.
3. I am the owner, purchaser or renter and permanent resident of the above
described residence. I further attest that the above residence is billed
on a separate meter and I pay for such billing directly.
4. My income from all sources is less than $7,500 per year, if single, or
less than $10,000 in combined income per year, if married.
5. I promise that I will promptly notify the City in writing if I should
move from the above described residence or in the event of any change
in my financial condition that would disqualify me from receiving the
special rate for utility services.
6. I further promise to pay the City for any undercharges that have been
made if it is determined that I am not qualified.
7. I further agree to provide the City with such additional information
about my income and residence as may be requested from time to time in
order to establish eligibility.
AFFIDAVIT
I swear under the penalties of perjury that all of the
above statements are true and correct to the best of
my knowledge.
