AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, RELATING
TO CRIMINAL ATTEMPT AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Criminal Attempt Defined. A person is guilty
of an attempt to commit crime if, with intent to commit a specific
crime, he does any act which is a substantial step toward the com-
mission of that crime. Conduct shall not be held to constitute a
substantial step under this section unless it is strongly corrobor-
orative of the actor's criminal purpose.
Section 2. Criminal Attempt Prohibited. No person shall
attempt to commit a crime.
Section 3. Impossibility No Defense. If the conduct in
which a person engages otherwise constitutes an attempt to commit a
crime, it is no defense to a prosecution of such attempt that the
crime charged to have been attempted was, under the attendant cir-
cumstances, factually or legally impossible of commission.
Section 4. Penalty. Any person who violates this ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be
punished in the manner prescribed for the crime which was attempted.
