This due to the patient was offgassing and making the ambulance crew ill. And also due the police reporting a very strong odor in the apartment. The police could see nothing visible however they did not go through the apartment due to the smell. I set up command, called for E-53, evacuated the apartments below,above and next the affected apartment. Valley comm requested to notify the duty chief however he did not need to respond to the scene at this time. I was also notified that the haz mat team leader is monitoring the call.A-54 ordered to continue patient care. to remove the patients clothing and to contact the hospital for advice as to how they wanted the patient deconed for their facility. F.F. hickey and Custer were to do recon in full scba and bunkers. E-53 on arrival set up a 1/34 attack line with Lt. Johnson and F.F. Haynes manning it They were to cover the recon team. F.F. Mccoy ( haz mat team member) is designated as safety. With line and back up team in place at 1630 entry is made. The recon team using the Sensodine detection device found nothing. After exiting the apartment we were asked to check out a small pick up truck. Nothing found also. At that point I ordered all units to stand down and pick up. A-54 crew with the help of F.F. Stevens was able to convince the female patient to put on one of our Tyvk suites. She then was transported to Valley Medical Center where she left before being seen by the staff. Lt. David A.
