Narrative Text At 1249 hours on Sunday May 20, 2001 we were dispatched to a gas leak. Two units were
assigned to this incident. Six personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1254 hours and
cleared at 1323 hours. The incident occurred at 4635 S 148 St, Tukwila in District 11. The
local station is ST54. The general description of this property is 1 or 2 family dwelling.
The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was hazard removal.
No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0001670 has been assigned to this incident.
Five gallon propane tank was venting though the relief valve. Found tank in full sun in
front yard, relief valve sputtering out liquid propane. Resident says tank was just filled.
Took tank to a remote spot in open air and bled off tank to what felt approxomately the
correct weight. Liquid propane initially bled out of bunk. Advised resident that tank had
been overfilled, to keep it out of direct sun, and use the tank as soon as possible to lower
the level further. Also advised them not to store it inside a structure or in a location where
the vapors could collect in a low spot.
