Narratives
Christensen Rd S, Tukwila in District 005. The general description of this property is
business office. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was
investigation. Mutual aid was received on this incident.
Alarm number 0003153 has been assigned to this incident.
Upon arrival we were met by two janitorial employees who stated that there was the smell
of smoke in suites 205 and 207. Went to these suites and did indeed find a moderate odor
of a hot motor or belt burning and light smoke in some offices. E-52 brought in the
thermal imager and checked around. A-54 checked above ceilings for smoke or a source.
L-74 arrived and laddered the building to check on the HVAC units for any malfunction
and/or fire. Building management and maintenance reps arrived. They came up to the
second floor and then we went to the roof. L-74 had not found any problem. Investigated
further and found a defective belt on a fan unit. Belt had failed and came off. Cold now
but could have been the source. Shut down the affected unit and returned to the second
floor. Odor and smoke have mostly dissipated. All fire units are released. Building reps
are in the building until 2 AM. They will check the suites in an hour and again just before
leaving the building.
All Tukwila units in service/ returning.
