called mto station 51. Actmg Fire Marshal Tomaso contacted me and asked if I would
take my crew to the Gap Store in the mall to investigate an odar being generated from the
unoccupied business next door to the Gap.
Upon our arrival, I was met by a representative from the construction company and the
mall management. They informed me of the use of a sealer on the floor in the space next
door to the Gap that was generating a very strong odar in the businesses. They had closed
the store prior to anyone complaining of getting ill. We found the Gap store closed. We
could smell the odar in the area of the construction site, but could not smell it in the Gap.
We used our 4 gas detector to perform our air sampling. Our readings were all normal
limits, and the LEL reading was "0". We took readings in the Gap and in the construction
site, and got the same reading. The personnel on site had already set up several LARGE
fans to air out the structure. We did not use our PPV fan because of the 02 contamination.
With NO detectable odar, and readings of "0" on our monitor, we chose to close the
incident and open the business, at the discretion of the store manager. One unit was
assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1459 hours
and cleared at 1517 hours. The incident occurred at 1048 Southcenter Mall, Tukwila in
District 004. The general description of this property is general retail. The primary task(s)
performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling
Containers of this material May be hazardous when emptied. Since emptied
containers retain product reaiduea (vapor. liquid, and/or solid), all hazard
precautions given in the data sheet must De observed. All five -gallon pains
and larger metal containers, including tans cars and tank trucks, should be
grounded and/or bonded when material is trensrerred. Hydrocarbon solvents are
basically non-conductors of electricity and can become electrostatically
charged during mixing, filtering or pumping at high flow rates. If this charge
reaches a sufficiently high level, sparks can fora that may ignite the vapors
of flammable liquids. Warning. Sudden release of hot organic chemical vapors
or mists from process equipment operating at elevated temperature and pressure,
or sudden ingress of air into vacuum equipment, may result in ignitions without
the presence of obvious ignition sources. Published "autoignition" or
•ignition" temperature values cannot be treated as safe operating temperatures
in chenieAl processes without analysis of the actual process conditions. Any
use of this product in elevated temperature processes should be thoroughly
evaluated to establish and maintain safe operating conditions.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Nye Protection
Chemical splash goggles in compliance with OSHA regulations are advised;
however, OSHA regulations also permit other type safety giasses. Consult your
safety representative.
Skin Protection
wear resistant gloves (consult your safety equipment supplier)., To prevent
repeated or prolonged Skin contact, wear impervious clothing and boots..
Respiratory Protections
If workplace exposure limit(a) of product or any component is exceeded (see
exposure guidelines), a PIOSH/HSHA approved air supplied respirator is advised
in absence or proper environmental control. OSHA regulations also permit other
NIOSH/NSHA respirators (negative pressure type) under specified conditions (set
your industrial hygienist). Engineering or administrative controls should be
implemented to reduce exposure.
Engineering Controls
Provide sufficient mechanical (general and/or local exhaust) ventilation to
maintain exposure below TLV(s).

overexposure to this material for its components) has been suggested as a cause
of the following effects in laboratory animals: mild, reversible liver effects
mild, reversible kidney effects, cardiac sensitization, kidney damage.
Developmental Information
This material (or a component) has been shown to cause birth defects in
laboratory animal studies. The relevance of these findings to humans is
uncertain.
Cancer Information
This material is not expected to cause cancer in humans since it did not cause
cancer in laboratory animals. Ethylbenzene has been shown to cause cancer in
laboratory animals. The relevance of this finding to humans is uncertain.
IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) has classified ethyibenzene
as a possible human carcinogen.

Primary Route(s) of Entry
Inhalation, Skin absorption, Skin contact, Eye contact, Ingestion.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes
If symptoms develop, move individual away from exposure and into fresh air.
Flush eyes gently with water while holding eyelids apart. If symptoms persist
or there is any visual difficulty, seek medical attention.
Skin
Remove contaminated clothing. Flush exposed area with large amounts of. water.
If skin is damaged, seek immediate medical attention. If skin is not damaged
and symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Launder clothing before reuse.
Swallowing
Seek medical attention. If individual is drowsy or unconscious. do not give
anything by mouth; place individual on the left side with the head down.
Contact a physician, medical facility, or poison control center for advice
about whether to induce vomiting. If possible, do not leave individual
unattended.
Inhalation
If symptoms develop, immediately move individual away from exposure and into
fresh air. Seek immediate medical attention; keep person warm and quiet. If
person is not breathing, begin artificial respiration. If breathing is
difficult. administer oxygen.
)Iota to Physicians
•Inhalation of high concentrations of this material, as could occur in enclosed
spaces or during deliberate abuse, may be associated with cardiac arrhythmias.
Sympathomimetic drugs may initiate cardiac arrnythmias in persons exposed to
this material. This material is an aspiration hazard. Potential danger from
aspiration must be weighed against possible oral toxicity (See Section 3 -
Swallowing) when deciding whether to induce vomiting. Preexisting disorders of
the following organs (or organ systems) may be aggravated by ex oaure to this
material: skin, lung (for example, asthma -like conditions), kidney, auditory
system. Individuals with preexisting heart disorders may be more susceptible to
arrhythmias (irregular( heartbeats) if exposed to high concentrations of this
