We had a walk-in report from a citizen of two 30 gallon barrels alongside the roadway on 51st Ave S. south of 144th. A-54 went to locate and called for L-54 and HM 52 to respond with them. Upon our arrivals, we found both barrels about 20 ft off the road in the brush. Both drums were old and rusted, with no obvious indication of it's contents. One of the drums had a flammable liquid label on it. Both had blotches of spray paint and no content label. We noticed the grass around the drums appeared dead. Niether drum was activaly leaking, although one did have a hole in the bung. In a defensive posture and in bunkers, we reconned the drums. We found one to have product in it , the other seemed to be empty, with some residual product in it. Because the grass was dead, we backed off and suited up two of our personnel and had them place the drums in overpack drums. We sealed them up and took them to station 51. We placed them in a fenced area. I contacted DOE to arrange for them to pick them up. With Three units were assigned to this incident. Five personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1747 hours and cleared at 1931 hours. The incident occurred at 14700 51 Av S, Tukwila in District 011. The local station is ST54. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0003407 has been ass' ed to this incident.
