Alarm number 0003447 has been assigned to this incident.
Subsequent to national anthrax alerts, RP received an envelope with no retum address.
Apartment manager placed the envelope in a plastic bag and called TPD. TPD requested
fire to respond. On arrival, noted the envelope secured in a plastic bag lying on the
sidewalk. Approached the bag and noted it was a typical business size envelope with a
machine printed postage stamp and a typed address label, but no return address visible.
No signs of any damage or leakage or other unusual features of the envelope. After
discussing the issue with TPD, it appeared to be of no threat, but advised the RP that it
may be appropriate to just throw the envelope in the trash. With the RP's permission, TPD
threw the bagged envelope into the dumpster.
