One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 2225 hours and met with Tukwila PD outside at the south loading area of the postal facility. The PD officer advised employees noticed a small envelope on a conveyor belt that was stuffed with brown dirt substance that had broken open. PD officer was not planning on making a case but wanted fire dept input. I observed a small envelope that had been overpacked into two clear envelopes. There was what appeared to be dirt leaking from the package. Per the postal inspector, Jeff Scobba, there were four employees in the immediate area, and it was unknown if they had cutaneous contact with the product. They were advised to wash their hands and shower per the inspector. The postal inspector also indicated to me that employees had aready begun to spray the belt and immediate area with a bleach solution, and they wanted the envelope destroyed. They would not be keeping it for evidence. Exployess brought a bucket, and bleach outside, and the envelope and packaging were thouroughly soaked in a 5% bleach solution. The envelope was left with the postal inspectors who advised they would let it soak for 30 minutes then throw it away. We cleared at 2244 hours. The incident occurred at 10200 27 Av S, Tukwila in District 009. The general description of this property is post office or mailing firms. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received. Alarm number 0000002 has been assigned to this incident.
