Tukwila Fire Department
report was of 1/2 gallon spill. Upon amval we found a young female standing by her car.
She reported that when her boyfriend tried to put gasoline in the car, the gas came out of
the neck of the filler tube and sprayed fuel on him and the ground. It was less than a half a
gallon. They were both concemed that there clothes may catch on fire while driving. I
advised them to go home and wash their clothing. There was so little on the ground we did
not feel it necessary to mitigate it. There was a sheen about 2 feet in diameter. No
puddles or stream going away from it.
The cause of the spill was discussed. We determined that he must not have had the nozzle
all the way in the neck. They only put in five gallons, so the tank was not full. It is
unknown why the fuel came out of the neck. There was a splash guard on the nozzle.
One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded. We arrived on scene at
2235 hours and cleared at 2244 hours. The incident occurred at 14415 Tukwila
Intemationa Blvd, Tukwila in District 013. The local station is ST54. The general
description of this property is service station, gas station. The primary task(s) performed at
the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given
or received.
Alarm number 0001072 has been assigned to this incident.
