Page: 3 Printed: 10/08/2002 22:19:08 Incident Report 2002-0003232-000 Tukwila Fire Department Narratives Tukwila Units were dispatched to a report of natural gas smell inside of a building. Evacuated employees also reported hissing noises at the gas meter. The employees indicated that PSE had been there earlier in the day performing service on the gas system. E51 arrived first on location and laid a 5" dry supply forward and established Strander Command. E52 arrived second on location and was assigned the duties of checking and evacuating the adjacent business in the shared building. Renton A14 arrived third and was assigned stand-by position at the hydrant. E54 arrived fourth and was given air monitoring duties on the interior of the building. E51 J1 and J2 investigated the gas meter, found no hissing noises and stood by prepared to shut down the gas lines. Kent L74 arrived last and stood by on Strander BL. E54 found the building devoid of any combustible gas readings. There was no evidence of a gas leak. The employees later confirmed that the smell inside the building was the same as one that we were experiencing on the exterior. This scent was determined to be most like the gaseous emission of an area resident mammal (skunk). All units were placed in service and returned to quarters. Alarm number 0003232 has been assigned to this incident.
