At 0406 hours on Monday November 18, 2002 we were dispatched to a chemical hazard
(no spill or leak). Four units were assigned to this incident. We arrived on scene at 0410
hours and cleared at 0511 hours. The incident occurred at 11231 East Marginal Way S,
Tukwila in District 007. The general description of this property is storage. The primary
task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel were to identify and analyze
hazardous materials. Other special haz mat actions were also taken. No mutual/automatic
aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0003657 has been assigned to this incident.
E53 and A54 were dispatched to a reported hazerdiouse leak at ovemite trucking. On
arrival we were given a good short report from the supervisor on the scene.
He stated that a transmisson had fallen in side of a trailer parked in the SW corner of the
holding yard. He stated that it had fallen on top of a load of orms (mixed Bag). These
included corrosives, flamable liquids, and other products. He also stated that he thought he
could smell acetone. He closed the trailer and called Foss Inviormental. They told him to
call us and they were responding to the scene.
I set up command (112th Command) and secired fire three. I also had a54 do a re -con with
caution as E53 stould by as rescue stand-by team. They reported no product visible on the
ground. They also stated that the trailer was not placarded. I had them with drew to
command for face to face. I also upgraded to include E52 and Haz-Mat 52.
When E52 arrived we did a face to face (Lt. Mc farland and Lt. Wheeler) WE decided to
do a closer look with Haz-Teck personnel from E52.
The supervisor from Over-Nite gave me the landing papers for the trailer. These were
reviewed in Haz-Mat 52 by Lt. Mcfarland and FF Ryden before they did their recon.
E52 entered the hot zone in scba and full bunking gear. A54 with two stould by as safety
rescue beam for E53. Reports from E52 confirmed no spill or product release. All units
placed into service and situation was turned over tO Foss Inviermental.
