E-53 arrived. Lt. Johnson established command. E-52 arrived and we were asked to conduct air monitoring. While we were approaching the scene F.F.s McCoy and Wolley came from the back of the building with a 201b propane container. They told us that the valve had been opened slightly and this was thought to be the source of the smell. We made an air monitor sweep of the area and found only slightly raised levels. Units were cleared from the scene except E-52. We remained to make sure gas levels came down to normal limits. Gabrilella Delgado informed us that she could still smell gas and it was a different smell than before. We monitored the storage room areas and found extremely high levels of gas. We could also smell gasoline. In storage unit "0" we found three gasoline containers as well as a gas powered blower and other tools. One of the gas containers had leaked and contaminated the wall as well as about three square feet of carped in the adjoining apartment. WE removed two sq. feet of wall board from the storage area and six sq feet of carpet and pad from the apartment. All the units were ventilated using natural air flow. I contacted the apartment manager Carol Myers at 360-598-6913. and Informed her about the problem. She told me she was at work and could not come to the scene. She is an off premises manager. I called for Lt. Edwards. When he arrived I informed him of the situation as well as other gasoline containers that we found in other storage units. He contacted the manager to deal with any problems that need to be addressed. We made sure there was no existing hazard be fore we returned to quarters. Before securing from the scene I spoke with the residents. I informed them that there would still Page: 3 Printed: 12/10/2002 20:42:30 Apparatus - L54 Apparatus Personnel Amount 2 Apparatus Use Apparatus Action Taken 1 Apparatus Type $0.00 1 93 - Cancelled en route 13 - Quint Authority Reported By Officer In Charge Reviewer 1113 - Hansen, David 19:55:14 Tuesday, December 10, 2002 1113 - Hansen, David 19:55:22 Tuesday, December 10, 2002 - , Narratives Narrative Name Narrative Type Narrative Date Author Author Rank Author Assignment Narrative Text New Narrative Incident 19:55:39 Tuesday, December 10, 2002 1113 - Hansen, David LT 1 Responded with all units on ( smell of natural gas from the location; A54 arrived first and started investigation.
