At 2327 hours on Saturday December 14, 2002 we were dispatched to a hazmat release
investigation with no hazmat. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 2333 hours and cleared at 0018 hours. The incident
occurred at 16500 Southcenter Pky, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is ST51.
The general description of this property is hotel/motel, commercial. The primary task(s)
performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic
aid was given or received.
The management and some guests at The Doubletree Suites reported the smell of natural
gas on the ground floor. Specifically in the vicinity fo the Dallas Room. A faint odor was
detected but air monitoring on all floors and all areas revealed absolutley no combustible
gases. They recalled their chief engineer so that he could check the heating and ventilation
system. A male party attendee threatened the E51 officer with bodily harm. TPD was
summoned but the perpetrator could not be located at that time.
Alarm number 0003954 has been assigned to this incident.
