At 0653 hours on Sunday May 18, 2003 we were dispatched to a building fire. Six units
were assigned to this incident. Twenty-five personnel responded. We arrived on scene at
0658 hours and cleared at 1127 hours. The incident occurred at 11210 Tukwila
Internationa Blvd, Tukwila in District 001. The local station is ST53. The general

keybox on the north side of the building. The keys in the keybox did not gain us access
into the building. The key would fit the locks to the 2 doors we tried but they were also
locked on the inside and couldnt gain entry. A subscriber had also just arrived and didnt
know which of his personal keys fit which locks. The facility was also gated and locked
from about two thirds of the building towards the east end. We were able to gain entry
through the gate with one of the keys in the keybox.By this time the subscriber had gotton
into the building through the front door. I directed my driver to secure a supply and that I
wanted two 13/4 lines layed. At this point we gained entry into the building through the
front door. This area was clear, no smoke detected. We headed east into the shop area. The
area was clear, no smoke detected. At this point we we felt a door that led to the paint
booth areas and it was cool. We opened it and it was dark with smoke. I gave my incoming
Captain an update at this time and he told me E52 to take command upon their arrival. We
exited through a apparatus bay door just north of where we were. We assisted with
executing the 21/2 preconnect with the 2 13/4 bundles. As soon as we had 2 in 2 out with
the arrival of E52 we went inside with a line. B51 took command at this time. We searched
for the fire in a counter clockwise motion with 2 lines and a thermal imager. Although it
was very dark and smoky you could tell the paint booths were in the middle of the area we
were searching. At this time I asked command to consider opening the bay doors for
ventilation and visibility.
After going through one bottle of air we had not found the fire in the maze of paint booth
areas. We had to exit to replace our air bottles. While they were being replaced it was
announced that the fire was found on the south side of the building on the other side of the
paint booths in a recreational vehicle in one of the bays of the shop. At this time we were
reassigned as standby on the north side of the building manning a line.
