Narratives
We arrived on scene at 0101 hours and were met by the Manager of Distribution Operation
(MDO) Anita. She was interviewed by us regarding the type of substance, and the specific
circumstances. After it was determined that the threat level was very low we approached
the area.
We observed approx 2-3 grams of white crystalline substance on top of a large cardboard
box. The substance resembled salt. The same salt -like material was also found in a near
by loading -hopper. Per the MDO, her staff spent over an hour searching the area looking
for a source package without success prior to calling 911. B51 arrived and was briefed.
We spent an additional 10 minutes trying to locate the source package without success.
Due to the crystalline consistency and the bright white color, we ruled out a biological
hazard. Due to there being no symptoms of any employees, we ruled out chemical
substance. For employee concern and peace -of -mind, the MDO was instructed to use
Postal service protocol and clean the product up with bleach solution. She agreed and
employees began appropriately cleaning the area.
We cleared at 0122 hours. The incident occurred at 10700 27 Ave S, Tukwila in District
008. The local station is ST53. The general description of this property is post office or
mailing firms. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was
investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or received.
Alarm number 0001840 has been assigned to this incident.
