Author Assignment 1
Narrative Text E51 dispatched to address given for a reported 10 gallon gasoline leak, with product into
the storm sewer. B51 added himself to this incident.
On arrival, E51 found employees spreading absorbent over the spill area, a rubber mat and
been placed over the storm drain, with absorbent socks forming a dam around it. Driver
of the vehicle, Mr Bond, stated he had just filled up his vehicle, when the fuel entered the
fill neck of the tank, the tube burst, spilling what appeared to be less than three gallons of
gasoline on the ground. Investigation showed that product most likely DID NOT enter the
storm sewer.
Gas Station Manager, Stan Robbins, stated that the Service Station Maintenance Service
was on its way to check and clean out the storm sewer. He stated they should be on site in
less than two hours. Immediately at time of spill, the rubber mat and absorbent socks were
placed around the storm sewer.
Vehicle involved is a 2002 Ford Utility/Cargo (E350), WA License A45119R,
VIN 1FDWE35L82HA38138. Pictures of the rupture are attached. Photos where taken
looking into the rear axle wheel well. The rupture is approximately 3-1/2 to 4" long.
E51 crew assisted spreading absorbent and attempted to determine if product entered the
storm sewer. Having completed these tasks, E51 and B51 left the scene.
