At 1900 hours on Monday November 17, 2003 we were dispatched to an oil or other
combustible liquid spill. One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel
responded. We arrived on scene at 1907 hours and cleared at 1940 hours. The incident
occurred at 6200 S I-405 Fwy, Tukwila in District 004. The local station is 51. The general
description of this property is highway or divided highway. The primary task performed at
the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given
or received.
E-51 was called to a oil spill from a single semi truck accident. that ripped the oil pan off
the truck spilling 13 gallons of motor oil into ditch next to hwy. E-51 was on location with
WSP and DOT. E-51 stood -by while Pete's towing chained and moved the truck out of the
way. E-51 contained the dirt that had soaked up the oil into a pile, and built a dyke down
hill from the pile. E-51 then asked DOT if they were going to call FOSS out to clean up
the dirt or if they were going to do it and bill the trucking co. The DOT rep. on location
said he was going to call his supervisor and ask him how it should be handled.
