Beckman, Kenneth Author Rank LT Author Assignment 1 Narrative Text At 1644 hours on Tuesday February 24, 2004 we were dispatched to a chemical hazard (no spill or leak). Four units were assigned to this incident. Eleven personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1656 hours and cleared at 1935 hours. The incident occurred at 14420 Tukwila Internationa Blvd, Tukwila in District 011. The local station is 54. The general description of this property is hotel/motel, commercial. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was to establish a safe area. Automatic aid was received on this incident. Alarm number 0000674 has been assigned to this incident. E47 was dispatched to strange smell coming from room. Advised to stage. Manager was said to have seen wires running from the bathroom and had seen a small video camera pointed out a window looking at the stairs. E47, B45 staged at station 54. L54 was on another aid call at time of dispatch, went in service and heard call and added themselves to the call. B51 had been notified of the call in TFD area. L54, B51 staged at 14600 block TIB. We rec'd the all clear by PD and proceeded in. Tied in with PD and B51. L54 secured power to the effected floor, and PD did a sweep of another room stb occupied by the same people, 404. Nothing of concern found here, PD did sweep of 401 and saw chemicals in bathtub and cleared out. No booby traps noted. L54A on air did visual recon of both rooms finding chemicals similar to meth labs in bath tub. 1 gal can of Toluol, I QT can of unk solvent, 2 qt mason type jar w/o lid of clear liquid and sludge, mud brown; box for yard type sprayer, couple of nylon equipment bags, bbq type propane cylinder with rerigged valve, ropes and tubes. No chemicals were seen to be leaking or reacting. No heat was evident. Scene seemed secure for chemical problems. No booby traps were noted by L54A. L54B was stand-by team outside. SeaTac was released before getting on loc. E52 arrived with Haz Mat personnel and entered and took pictures, monitored the air with a 4 gas detector, and assessed the chemical situation. B51 contacted the HazMat team leader for information, and determined from TPD what their course of action was to be. L54 was cleared when E51 arrived as manpower. PD determined not to prosecute and contacted DOE for cleanup. Crews left the scene to PD.
