One unit was assigned to this incident. Three personnel responded. We arrived on scene at 1733 hours and cleared at 1740 hours. The incident occurred at 1201 E Marginal Way S, Tukwila in District 0010. The local station is 53. The general description of this property is business office. The primary task(s) performed at the scene by responding personnel was investigation. No mutual/automatic aid was given or redeived. At approximately 1725, Station 53 received a phone call from Valley Com stating that they had received a call from a security person at Group Health at the above address. The security person stated that a vehicle on their property had a gasoline leak which had been stoped. He further stated that AAA was en route to tow the vehicle and to call the fire department to come and empty the gasoline from the car before they would tow it. I stated that we did not provide that service, however, we could stop a leak if it was still a problem. Valley Com replied that they knew of no other Valley Departments which would provide thifi service and that was why they were contacting me via phone. I told them to relay this inttrmation to the caller and if there is still a problem to contact us. We were dispatched two minutes later. 1 Fpon arrival, we found that the leak was indeed stopped, however, the security person mentioned that when the vehicle is hooked up to tow, it will probably leak again and that ASA will not tow it. He further stated that AAA said that we would drain the tank for thelm. I stated to him that we do not provide that service (nor did we have the means). I suggested that he have someone go to Big Wheel or Schucks and buy a hand operated siphon tube in order to drain the tank. He was not a happy camper (and we may be hearing from him again). I:did go under the car to attempt to find the source of the leak. The tank is "protected" by a 1/8" steel plate and we could not get access without some significant mechanical work. Again, the leak was stopped and posed no problem when we left. When I got back to the station, I called AAA and asked what they told people when they Page: 2 Printed: 02/24/2004 18:04:58 Apparatus - E53 Position: FFIll Amount 1: $0.00 Amount 2: $0.00 Authority Reported By Officer In Charge Reviewer 1136 - Johnson, Jeffrey 18:04:38 Tuesday, February 24, 2004 116 -Johnson, Jeffrey , q 18;04:41 Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - , Narratives Narrative Name Narrative Type Narrative Date Author Author Rank Author Assignment Narrative Text Ndw Narrative Incident 17:47:15 Tuesday, February 24, 2004 1136 - Johnson, Jeffrey L1 1 At 1727 hours on Tuesday February 24, 2004 we were dispatched to a gasoline or other flammable liquid spill. I spoke with someone named Colleen. She stated that they tell customers to contact the FD if the vehicle is still leaking or if there is gasoline on the ground which may pose an environmental or safety hazard. She mentioned that the FD can often plug the leaks and stop the environmental or safety threat. When asked if they told people that we will drain their tanks for the vehicle to be towed, she laughed and said, "No." Alarm number 0000675 has been assigned to this incident.
