E51 dispatched to 1187 Andover Park West for a reported gasoline spill. While en route,
we were advised the Tukwila PD (1T4, Ofcr Corinne Purucker) was on location
investigating a fuel theft, and needed us to spread some absorbent on the spilled fuel.
On arrival, E51 found a commercial vehicle, a 6x6 dumpster, and an area immediately in
front of the dumpster where a liquid with a smell similar to diesel oil had been spilled on
the ground (approximately FIVE gallons at the entire scene).
Mr JOHN KNOTEN stated that when he came to work this morning, he found the
employee ash tray taken apart and thrown in the bushes - while his employees were
cleaning up this mess, he found a credit card in (or near) the dumpster, which led him to
check the area and find a hose used to siphon fuel from the truck. One of his employees
also found the fuel can and some car parts on the ground behind the dumpster. The
employee threw the can and parts into the dumpster, spilling fuel inside it. Tukwila PD
was called to take the theft report (Incident #TP04-010210 - unknown case number).
E51 crew spread absorbent (Rice Hull Ash), collected report information, and took some
digital photos (attached).
